CVSA CMV Blitz Schedule for 2024
The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) conducts several safety blitzes each year to enhance the safety of commercial motor vehicles (CMVs) and their drivers. The CVSA International Roadcheck was held May 14-16, 2024, but there are more safety blitzes to come this year. Below is the 2024 CVSA Blitz schedule, along with a brief description of each event. Operation Safe Driver Week
Date: July 7-13, 2024
Operation Safe Driver Week is an annual enforcement and educational campaign that targets unsafe driving behaviors by both commercial motor vehicle drivers and passenger vehicle drivers. This initiative aims to reduce the number of deaths and injuries from crashes by increasing awareness and compliance with road safety regulations. The program focuses on driver behaviors, which contribute to 94% of all traffic crashes. During this week, law enforcement officers will be actively monitoring and interacting with drivers to encourage safer driving habits.

Brake Safety Week
Date: August 25-31, 2024
Brake Safety Week is a part of CVSA’s Operation Airbrake Program and involves a week-long brake safety campaign. During this period, commercial motor vehicle inspectors conduct brake system inspections to identify violations and ensure that brake systems are properly maintained. Properly functioning brakes are critical for the safe operation of CMVs, and this event helps to raise awareness about the importance of brake maintenance.

In addition to the scheduled Brake Safety Week, there will be an unannounced one-day brake safety enforcement initiative at some point during 2024. The exact date will not be disclosed in advance to ensure that commercial motor vehicle operators consistently maintain their brake systems.
